Joaquín Moreno Pampín

Joaquin Moreno Pampín is a practitioner in the field of international litigation and transnational arbitration. Mr. Moreno Pampín advises clients on international litigation, investor-state arbitration, and general corporate matters, including the representation of a Caribbean country in an international investor-state arbitration. His clients include financial institutions, and other private and public companies across North America, and South America. Mr. Moreno Pampín also has experience serving as in-house counsel in the financial, publishing and healthcare industries. His most recent in-house position was with the largest microloan institution for small businesses in Florida. In 2003, Mr. Moreno Pampín was a founding member of the Microenterprise Development Bank (Banco de Desarrollo del Microempresario, S.A.) in Venezuela and served as vice president for legal affairs.

  • Represented the Dominican Republic in an UNCITRAL investor-state dispute filed in 2016 and concluded in March 2017
  • Represented an investor (hospitality sector) in ICSID (World Bank) arbitration against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela pursuant to Barbados-Venezuela Bilateral Investment Treaty with claims exceeding US$400 million
  • Represented investor in $60 million dollar dispute in ICSID (World Bank) proceeding against the Republic of Colombia
  • Represented investor in $600 million dollar dispute in UNCITRAL (Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague) proceeding against the Republic of Colombia
  • Represented U.S. based multinational in an international commercial arbitral proceeding against a Mexican entity concerning a multi-million-dollar dispute. Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico.
  • Serve as Secretary of the sole arbitrator in dispute between Israeli weapons systems engineering firm and a major Brazil based global infrastructure company (ICC Case No. 21155/R)
  • Served as Secretary in an arbitration before the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) in the matter styles Alberto Pryme v. Celebrity Cruise Lines, LTD (Case No. 50 20 1400-0090)
  • Represented U.S. based multinational in an international commercial arbitral proceeding against an Ecuadorian entity concerning a $35 million dispute before the Centre for Arbitration and Mediation of the Quito Chamber of Commerce, Case No. 069/14, award issued on May 6, 2015
